Katherine Burse is a native of Georgia and currently works as a Public Affairs Specialist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service in Denver, Colorado.

 

She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Mass Communications and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Colorado State University. She has more than 20 years of experience working in public affairs related positions in both the government and private industry. Her previous employment includes work in public affairs with the Department of Defense, American Cancer Society, and the Department of the Interior.

Since 2005, Katherine has been an active member of the NOPBNRCSE where she has served on the Executive Board as Correspondence Secretary in her former years and more recently as the Northern Plains Regional Representative. She also serves as the Colorado Chapter President.

 

In her collateral duties, Katherine is the Chair of the Colorado NRCS Civil Rights Committee; webmaster of the agency’s website, and Area Representative for the NRCS Earth Team Volunteer Program.

 

She is a graduate of the 2014 Chamber Connect Leadership Program, 2012-2014 Colorado Agricultural Leadership Development Program, and the 2011 African-American Leadership Program. She was recently appointed by the Denver Mayor to serve as a commissioner on the Denver African American Commission where she will advise the mayor on policies and changes to issues affecting the community.
