Ken Sowers

Kenneth Sowers has served as the Appeals Specialist for Georgia Natural Resources Conservation Service since February of 2017. Before coming to Georgia Ken served as the Appeals Specialist for the State of Missouri from August 2011 to 2017. His primary focus is representing the Agency during the appeal process.
Ken was born and raised in Arkansas. He graduated from Arkansas State in Jonesboro, Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication. Ken is a military veteran with over 24 years of service.


During Ken’s employment history with the State of Missouri he has worked with different State Agencies in the regulation and compliance field. Ken has over 20 plus years working in the regulation and compliance field.


Ken began his career with NRCS in August 2011 as the Appeals Specialist for the State of Missouri. There he was responsible for representing the Agency during the appeal process regarding programmatic and technical appeals. Ken join the National Organization of Professional Black Natural Resources Conservation Service Employees in 2012. Ken has served as the Midwest Regional Representative and Chair of the Nomination Committee.
Ken resides in Athens, Georgia. He is a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. Before coming to Athens, Georgia and joining Chestnut Grove, Ken was a member of Second Baptist Church in Jefferson City, Missouri where he served as Trustee and President of the Usher Board. Ken enjoys being active by playing golf and exercising.
